In one of the remotest corners of India live the Chakma and the Hajong refugees who came to Arunachal Pradesh from the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh in 1964 following the construction of the Kaptai Dam. Hardened by circumstances these tribes settled in one of the most inhospitable parts of Arunachal. With time and their growing numbers the Supreme Court recently in September 2015 has asked the Centre and Arunachal Pradesh government to grant citizenship to Chakmas and Hajongs refugees.
